data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Immigration is currently a key area of focus for the UK government as shown by the publication of the \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restoring Control Over the Immigration System<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d white paper published on 12 May 2025 (\u201cthe <\/span><b>White Paper<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d) and the references to immigration included within the government\u2019s policy paper, \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the UK\u2019s Modern Industrial Strategy\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published on 23 June 2025 (\u201cthe <\/span><b>Industrial Strategy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d) which provides further detail to some of the policies outlined in the White Paper.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UK Prime Minister Sir<\/span><b> Keir Starmer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has made sweeping changes to the immigration system intended to \u201ctake back control of our borders\u201d and head off political challenges from the anti-immigration right.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Skilled<\/b> <b>work visas to be restricted to graduate-level jobs<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Raising the skills threshold for <\/span><b>skilled worker visas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the equivalent of a UK bachelor\u2019s degree or higher (and associated changes to salary thresholds as a result) and removing 111 occupations from the list of roles eligible for a skilled worker visa. Current Skilled Worker visa holders can still extend, bring dependents, change employment and take on supplementary work below RQF level 6 but this will not apply indefinitely and is subject to future review.<\/span><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>The Introduction of the TSL<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new TSL has been published which <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/68629c9b3464d9c0ad609d33\/E03394848_-_HC_997_-_Immigration_Rules_Changes__Web_Accessible_.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lists 52 occupations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (for occupations with a skilled requirement of A Level or higher but below degree level) which are crucial to delivering the government\u2019s Industrial Strategy and where there have been long term shortages. These occupations will be temporarily exempted (until the end of 2026) from the planned increase to the skills threshold for Skilled Worker visas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The TSL will be reviewed in the spring of 2026, all roles will be automatically removed from the TSL unless the Migration Advisory Committee states otherwise \u2013 for a role to be added or remain on the TSL past the end of 2026, there will need to be an appropriate plan in place with the relevant sectors of these occupations to develop domestic skills and increase local recruitment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those on the TSL will not be able to bring dependents with them and they will not be provided with salary or visa fee discounts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Salary thresholds are going up<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The minimum salary requirement is also being raised for several visa categories. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the Skilled Worker visa, the threshold is increasing from \u00a338,700 (about \u20b941.8 lakh) to \u00a341,700 (about \u20b945 lakh) annually.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other routes, including Global Business Mobility and Scale-up, will also see revised salary benchmarks. Crucially, all Skilled Worker visa holders applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after July 22 must meet the new salary threshold\u2014even if they applied earlier under the old rules.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is a UK immigration status that allows a person to live, work, and study in the UK without any time restrictions. It&#8217;s a step towards permanent residency and, ultimately, British citizenship.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no transitional relief. \u201cThe new salary thresholds apply immediately for those seeking settlement, so employers must plan accordingly,\u201d said a release by the UK government.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Closure of the care visa route<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employers cannot sponsor new overseas care worker visas.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Providers expected to hire from the pool of international care workers already in the UK while improving pay and conditions to attract domestic workers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7cfef57 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7cfef57\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What Employers Need to do now\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6a3ba13 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6a3ba13\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the new system now live, employers are under pressure to act quickly to stay compliant and avoid disruption to staffing pipelines. Immediate steps include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Issue CoS before July 21 for jobs affected by the new rules<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Audit sponsored job roles to check if they meet RQF Level 6<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Update salary bands and HR budgets to reflect the new thresholds<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Identify employees who are already on the Skilled Worker route and may still qualify under transitional arrangements<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Review recruitment strategies and invest in upskilling local workers<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Communicate clearly with existing staff on potential implications<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Consult legal experts to minimise the risk of non-compliance<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-561c5d4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"561c5d4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Do the New Settlement Rules Apply to existing visa holders?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e54a603 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e54a603\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is unclear.
